NITC Mega Hostel for Ladies (MHL) is located within the residential area of NIT Calicut campus. The hostel foundation was laid on 16.02.2010 and inaugurated on 23.1.2013.Mega Hostel for Ladies is an eight-storey building.There are 494 students hostel rooms which are of double occupancy for a capacity of 988 students with sufficient common washroom and bathroom facilities. All the rooms are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi as well as Local Area Network (LAN) connection facilities. In addition to the students’ residential rooms, 5 numbers of guest rooms,sick rooms,specially designed rooms for differently abled students,1 room for warden, 1 room for Residential Tutor per block with attached toilet &bathroom. Electrician room are also available.  MHL provides accommodation to various students includes UG, PG, and Ph.D. 

Mega Hostel for Ladies (MHL) also has several other salient features for the benefit of students. 5 numbers of Elevators are provided for the easy movement of students from 8th to ground floor at various locations.  Water purifiers, Fire extinguishers, Galvanized pipe for drying, etc., are also provided in every floor.  Incinerator of large capacity worth around 3 lakhs is functioning effectively for the disposal of sanitary napkins for the entire Mega Hostel for Ladies (MHL).

Additionally, Mosquito net has been fixed for all the windows in every room. There is also a provision of store room in every floorwhich is usually used by students for studying during exams, for doing drafting assignments as well as for keepingluggage of students on vacation.  . Internal campus bus service is available for students just adjacent to the main entrance of the Ladies hostel.  

Recently, the foundation stone has been laid for a new Ladies hostel of 780 student’s capacity near MHL hostel considering the future expansion in strength of girl students in campus.

FACILITIES

The following facilities are provided to students in MHL

• A common room with Wi-fi connectivity, LED TV and Table Tennis 

• A computer room and 25 numbers of desktop computers with high-speed LAN connection under CCTV surveillance round the clock (24x7)

• two contract messes with dining area

• There is a large central garden within MHL with seating arrangements

• Badminton court

• Solar panel as well as sufficient number of Geysers was installed in all bathrooms for hot water facility during rainy seasons.

• All the rooms are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi as well as Local Area Network (LAN) connection facilities

• Chess board, carrom board etc are provided for creating a healthy and friendly atmosphere among students.

STAFF AVAILABILITY

• For managing hostel activities, two wardens, a caretaker and an office assistant are available in the hostel from 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM in working days. 

• The service of three attendants is also available in hostel 24x7.

• eleven sanitation workers are available on Monday to Saturday (7.30 AM  to 4.30 PM)
