The Ladies Hostel was founded on June 10, 1983, in the central area of the NIT. The hostel consists of four blocks, as well as a visitor's lounge and a security station located at the main entrance.  The hostel is aesthetically pleasing, with charming grounds and ample shade provided by trees. It has the capacity to accommodate around 500 students (first year and final year of B. Tech/B. Arch). During the time of its inauguration, only the first block was existed. Subsequently, in 1989, a badminton court was constructed to facilitate sporting activities for the students.

In 2000, the second block was introduced to accommodate more than 200 final year B. Tech students. The fourth block, consisting of about 280 students in the Ist and IVth blocks, was erected in September 2005 at the main entrance of the hostel. The room structure of the first and fourth blocks differs from that of the second and third blocks in the hostel.

Regarding the study amenities available to students residing in the hostel, there are three computer rooms and a library. The hostel is equipped with 5 Resident Tutor rooms (RT Rooms) specifically designed to accommodate instructors in charge of documenting the roll call and attendance. The hostel provides three dedicated sick rooms for children who are unwell, along with a guidance room that offers counseling services twice a week. Additionally, the hostel features a fitness center for students, three common rooms, and seven guest rooms with associated bathrooms for housing. Two separate messes are running in the hostel.  The hostel has been operating a stitching center, photocopy center, cooperative store, beauty parlor, laundry, and night canteen for several years.

Even in the present day, the Ladies Hostel remains a crucial landmark in the history of NIT, where significant advancements are being made to cater to the students' need.

STAFF AVAILABILITY

• For managing hostel activities, two wardens, a caretaker and an office assistant is available in the hostel from 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM on all working days. 

• The service of two attendants per shift is available 24x7.

• Additionally service of Resident Tutors is also available.

• The service of Electrical attendants is available for 6 days in a week

• Two security personnel ensures the safety of the residents 24x7

• Five sanitation workers are available on Monday to Saturday (7.30 AM to 4.30 PM)
