Prof. Prasad Krishna
Prof. Prasad Krishna is the recipient of the prestigious Kirlosker Gold Medal and Sir M. Visveswaraya Memorial prize from the University of Mysore for securing First Rank in the B. Tech Programme in Mechanical Engineering (1983) from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (formerly Karnataka Regional Engineering College). He received his Master’s degree from the IIT Madras winning two silver medals and Prof. Sen Gupto prize for the best academic performance in the Department of Mechanical engineering. Prof. Prasad Krishna obtained his Doctoral Degree in Manufacturing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, an internationally recognized center of excellence in manufacturing research.
Prof. Krishna has more than thirty seven years of professional experience in a variety of sectors namely automobile manufacturing, precision machine tool design & development, metal casting, space research and teaching a variety of courses in the field of manufacturing, design and materials engineering. Prof. Krishna had served prestigious organizations like TVS Sundaram Clayton Pvt. Ltd., Hosur as Trainee Engineer, Gas Turbine Research Establishment (DRDO), Bengaluru as Scientist-B, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (ISRO), Thiruvanthapuram as Scientist-SB, HMT Ltd., Kochi as Design Engineer (1984-1991), NIT Calicut as Professor of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore as Research Assistant, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor as Visiting Research Investigator and Graduate Student Research Assistant, All India Council for Technical Education as Advisor-I, Quality Assurance Bureau & Member Secretary, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) during 2005-2008.
He had made several presentations about Indian Technical education and QA & Accreditation related issues in collaboration with several National and International organizations and charitable societies like British Council, Canadian High Commission, Irish Embassy, EduFrance, New Zealand High Commission, Confederation of Indian Industry, Ministry of Power, ASSOCHAM, FICCI, EPSI, ISTE, DST, FIEO, IE (I), Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of IT and Communications etc. He is also the recipient of several honors and awards for academic brilliance and has published more than 120 articles in various journals and conference proceedings in India and abroad and supervised ten PhDs and currently guiding five PhD scholars. Since January 2009, he is working as Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal (his Alma Mater). He is member of the various professional organizations like ISTE, CSI, Institution of Engineers, besides representing India in the University Quality Assurance International Board (UQAIB) of the Govt. of Dubai during 2008-2015 and world bank funded TEQIP Coordinator of NITK during 2007-2014, Dean (Alumni Affairs and Institutional Relations) from 2016 to 2018.. He had served as Board member in the various National Institutes namely the NIT, Kurukshetra, NIT Jalundhar, SVNIT Surat and SPA, New Delhi. He served the Department of Mechanical Engineering as Head during 2013-2015. Since 2018, he is working as Professor in the HAG scale in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.Prof. Krishna is also a Heartfulness Meditation Trainer for Spiritual Practice under the Sahaj Marg System of simplified Raj Yoga.
