In line with the National Education Policy 2020, NITC has established the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (CIKS, Bharatheeya Gyana Parampara Kendram) to promote education, training and research in traditional Indian Knowledge Systems (Science, Mathematics, Economics, Astronomy, Astrology).
Vision
Intellectuals empowered with Indian Knowledge Systems to address technological challenges.
Mision
Enable students, faculty and staff to engage in education and research on Indian Knowledge Systems for developing appropriate technologies/practices and products for sustainable growth.
Support Internship Project
A Project may be taken up for students of IITs, NIITs, IISERs, IIITs, 11Sc and ACITE approved technical colleges who would opt for internship in Sanskrit Institution under the guidance of Sanskrit Professors during the course of their study through which they would also get credits. If financial support is provided to such students, their talent could be utilized in unravelling the scientific knowledge hidden in Sanskrit literature through small, but focused Projects with Sanskrit scholars in Sanskrit institutions.
Objectives of the Project
I. Read and analyze ancient science based Indian Texts in Sanskrit to understand the scientific principles, methodologies, and practices embedded.
II. Establish connections between ancient Sanskrit knowledge and contemporary scientific concepts, highlighting their relevance and applicability.
III. Report and document findings systematically.
IV. Creating a pool of scholars from both traditional and science backgrounds.
Proposed Outcomes of the Project
I. Publications and case studies on scientific knowledge embedded in Sanskrit Literature
II. Glossary of terms in the selected area of discipline
III. Comprehensive Report of the Entire Internship as Monograph/Book
IV. Better understanding of scientific principles and methodologies practised in ancient India
V More students with an interest in exploring Sanskrit Literature to unravel hidden scientific wisdom.
Methodology
(a) Coverage
1. Ten interns will be selected based on an open call for applications for internship.
2. Due weightage will be given to geographical and cultural diversity while selecting interns.
3. Knowledge of Sanskrit is desirable since the student is expected to refer to books in Sanskrit.
(b) Data Collection/analysis:
1. Data collection through reading texts in the specific area, field visits, focused group discussions and interviews
2. Qualitative analysis.
Other Information
As per the guidelines of the Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, the interns will be students of IITs, IISC., IISERs, NITs, IIITs, and AICTE approved technical colleges.
The internship is Offline only for a period of two months during June – July 2026.
