    Research Contributions

    • I have designed and analyzed numerical techniques (using finite difference and finite element methods) for some singularly perturbed time-dependent or independent partial differential equations whose solutions may have a boundary and interior layers. I have considered a 2D singularly perturbed convection-reaction-diffusion interface problem having discontinuities in the coefficients and the source term along the interface. For this problem, a finite difference and a local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) method are analyzed on an appropriate Shishkin mesh for parameter-uniform convergence. Next, I studied the parameters-uniform convergence of a numerical method for a time-dependent weakly coupled system of two convection-diffusion equations having discontinuities in the source terms. I also explored the parameters-uniform convergence of a numerical method for a system of m(>1) singularly perturbed parabolic semilinear reaction-diffusion equations with a discontinuous source term. The parameter-uniform error estimates of this problem are obtained in maximum norm using the bounds on the derivatives of the solution and Green's function.
