    Dr. Kumaravel Sundaramoorthy has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala Since December 2008 and currently working as Associate Professor. He has acquired B.E. in E.E.E from Bharathidasan University, Thiruchirappalli 2002, M.Tech in Power Systems from National Institute of Technology Thiruchirappalli and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala. Also he has completed Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the area of Power Converter Applications in Power Systems from University College Dublin, Ireland.

    His major areas of research are design and development of DC-DC converters, stability enhancement of microgrid, solid state transformers, etc. As on Mar 2024, he has published more than forty five research papers in SCI Journals including Eighteen IEEE Transactions and four papers in IET Power Electronics, and several papers in reputed IEEE international conferences held in India and Abroad. He has supervised eleven PhDs and 56 M.Tech scholars. He has completed four sponsored research projects and has two ongoing projects with the approximate cost of Rs. 1 Crore from CPRI and SPARC.

    He has been cited in the list of top 2% researchers in the world by Stanford University. He has received awards such as Young Research Fellow from the Ministry of IT, Govt. of India, young scientist award 2017 for Engineering Stream from KSCSTE, Govt. of Kerala, Outstanding branch counselor award 2018 from IEEE Kerala section, IEEE PES chapter Outstanding Engineer Award etc. He is a senior member of IEEE, the member of ISTE and Institutions of Engineers.

    • Kerala State Renewable Energy Award 2018 in the category of Individual from ANERT, Govt., of Kerala. This award includes 50,000.00 Cash prize and 
    • Young Faculty Research Fellowship” under Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme, Ministry of Electronics & IT, India. (The  Award includes a monthly fellowship of Rs. 20000.00 for five years and a research grant of Rs. 5,00,000.00 for every year for the period of five year)
