Dr. M. Sivakumar is working as a Faculty Member in the Department of Civil Engineering at National Institute of Technology Calicut having more than 15 years of experience in teaching, research, and industry. He graduated from P.S.N.A College of Engineering and Technology, Madurai Kamaraj University, in 2004 and obtained his Master’s Degree from the College of Engineering, Guindy Campus, Anna University in 2008. He completed his Doctoral thesis under the supervision of Dr. M.V.L.R Anjaneyulu, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology Calicut in 2020. His research interests include Sustainable Pavement Materials and their Characterisation, Mechanistic Empirical Pavement Design, the Rheology of Bio-Bituminous Binders, Recycling of Pavements, etc. Presently he is working on developing Bio-additives to improve the performance of cold bituminous mixes for rural roads, utilisation of local and waste materials in road construction, and design of long-lasting pavements, etc.
Dr. M. Sivakumar is a member of the State Technical Agency (Kerala), National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (NRIDA), Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India to provide technical support for developing projects under the PMGSY scheme. He was appointed as a member of the Project Advisory Group, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, National Transportation Planning and Research Centre, Kerala. He is also a member of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC), the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Dr. M. Sivakumar has published more than 25 papers in international and national journals, and conference proceedings, and also, a reviewer of many reputed journals in the area of transportation engineering like ASCE Journal of Transportation Engineering: PART B (Pavements), ASTM Journal of Advances in Civil Engineering and etc. His research contributions are well received and appreciated by the PWD, Kerala, and he was also acknowledged with the Best Paper Award, five times at the National Level Conference held in India. To date, he has guided 47 M.Tech. dissertations. Presently He is Supervising 4 Ph.D. Scholars and 3 PG Students. He also executed more than 20 research and consultancy projects and delivered more than 15 expert lectures in workshops/conferences at the National level.
