Postgraduate Admissions - Overview
The Office PG Admissions at NIT Calicut is engaged in conducting admissions to various PG and Ph. D. programs offered by the institute. The details regarding the various PG programmes offered by the Institute are available at the following link of NITC website : https://nitc.ac.in/pg-programmes
Admissions to M. Tech. /M. Plan. programmes offered by NIT Calicut is carried out based on a centralized counselling (CCMT) process common to all NITs in accordance with the decision of the NIT Council constituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India (website: http://ccmt.nic.in). Selection of candidates for the M. Tech./M. Plan. programmes through CCMT will be based on their GATE score, subject to meeting the eligibility requirements and the availability of seats. In addition to the above, NIT Calicut admits candidates to M. Tech. /M. Plan. programmes under the self-sponsored category as well. A maximum of 5 seats in each M. Tech. programme and a maximum of 10 seats in the M. Plan. program is available for candidates under the self-sponsored category. Along with this, a few seats are reserved for candidates under the sponsored category as well. Candidates sponsored from Industries, R&D Organizations, Central/State Government institutions, Defence organizations, other reputed private organizations/institutions will be considered in this category.
There are a few seats in each M Tech./M. Plan. programme under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme for Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Children of Indians Working in Gulf (CIWG), Study In India (SII) program and Nepal Scholarship Schemes. The Study in India is a flagship project of the Government of India, launched in collaboration with the MoE, MEA, MHA, and MCI in April 2018. There are 11 M. Tech. seats available in various Engineering departments under Study In India Program. For details please see: https://www.studyinindia.gov.in/home. Under the Nepal Scholarship Scheme (NSS) of MEA, one seat is reserved for the Nepalese students in each M. Tech program offered at NIT Calicut
Admissions to M.Sc. programmes (Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics) at NIT Calicut will be based on JAM score and will be done through the centralized counselling process CCMN (website: www.ccmn.in). Prospective candidates willing to join M.Sc. programme at NIT Calicut are required to apply through CCMN. In addition to the above, NIT Calicut admits candidates to M. Sc. programmes under the self-sponsored category as well. A maximum of 10 seats are available in each M. Sc. program for candidates under the self-sponsored category.
Admissions to two-years full-time MBA programme offered by NIT Calicut will be based on a valid Common Admission Test (CAT) score conducted by IIMs. The selection will be based on personal interview.

Doctoral Programmes are offered in all Departments and Schools. Admissions to the Ph.D. programme of the institute are carried out as per schemes I – VI.
