Gas/Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)/Ion Sensors: Gas and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) sensors are essential part of many intelligent systems for safety and monitoring purpose. Their varied applications are prevalent in automotive industry (e.g., detection of vehicle emission gases), indoor air quality (e.g., detection of CO) monitoring, greenhouse gas (e.g., CO2 and methane) monitoring, medical application (e.g., detection of volatile organic compounds from exhaled human breath), and coal mine application (e.g., methane detection). Dr. Biswajit and his research group is involved in developing nanomaterials for highly selective/sensitive sensing of hazardious gases like CO, CH4, NO2, H2S and VOCs.

Electrochemical Energy storage Devices: Energy generated from renewable energy sources are not uninterrupted power sources, their quality of power generation dependent on the weather conditions and geographical position. Energy storage device especially electrochemical energy storage devices like electrochemical rechargable batteries and supercapacitors can efficiently store renewable energies with high energy densities or power densities. Dr. Biswajit and his research group is currently working on improving the performance of supercapacitor/battery by incorporating novel electrode materials.

Interface Electronics: The lab developed sensors and devices must be integrated with the electronic circuitry in order to use them as a handheld/portable device for practical application. Dr. Biswajit and his research team are actively working on creating prototypes for application in the transportation, health, and agriculture sector.
