Behavioural Sciences Laboratory

A behavioural science laboratory is being set up at SOMS with the initial funding received from Faculty Research Grant by the institute. The objective of the Behavioural Science Laboratory is to enable research based on human behaviour, which includes attitude, perception, cognitive and neuropsychological behaviour, consumer behaviour, decision-making, entrepreneurship and leadership behaviour. The laboratory contains facilities for conducting psychometrics, experiments in social psychology, eye tracking and a platform to conduct qualitative research such as focused group discussion and depth interviews. In the next phase, the behavioural science laboratory aims to collaborate with other departments in the institute and other academic and research institutes to facilitate research on cognition and artificial intelligence, neurobiological factors and behavioural aspects of aesthetics and design. The laboratory also aims to offer consulting services to industries and organisations that seek deep insights into employee and consumer behaviour.

Hall of Memories

Hall of Memories will be a work in progress forever, documenting the memories of SOMS as an academic space. It will employ everything from old equipment to photographs to memories of achievements and glories in the school's past. As memories are what we make out of experiences, things and interactions with people, the Hall of Memories would be dynamic. They will have the potential to cater to the personal and public memories in SOMS. We intend to showcase the memories that have made us what we are today.

Humanities Laboratory

A Humanities Laboratory, one of its kind in Indian higher education institutions, is being set up in SOMS. The lab is expected to cater to several needs, an academic space to develop resources on memory studies, cultural studies, and several areas of humanities, and a space to develop resources for students' skill development. The lab will attempt to record and document local histories and marginalised narratives and help conceptualise ways of understanding people's everyday lives. With focused group discussions and interviews, the lab would enable students to pursue their research interests comprehensively.

Language Laboratory

SOMS boasts of a Language Lab equipped with high-end computers and the latest software to facilitate language learning among students. Since SOMS caters to the requirements regarding the English language and several foreign languages in NITC, the lab would be a crucial component of our courses related to language and communication. Learners will be given personalised attention and structured feedback in the language learning process using this lab. The lab would promote several skills required for language acquisition, especially listening skills and group activities.

Rabindranath Tagore Library

" Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;

Where knowledge is free;

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;

Where words come out from the depth of truth;

Where tireless striving stretches its arms toward perfection;

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;

Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action -

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake."

Rabindranath Tagore Library, the school's library, is home to more than 2K books on management, humanities, and social science. The collection of books is increasing year by year to cater to the SOMS fraternity's only requirements. A digital extension, Tagore Digital Library, allows the students and faculties to access the digital sources of the central library easily.
