NIT Calicut Inks MoU with CSIR-NIIST
National Institute of Technology Calicut signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram. The MoU will enhance academic collaboration in interdisciplinary areas of education and research.
Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, signed the agreement in the presence of Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan, Director, CSIR-NIIST and remarked that the institutes will undertake research projects through joint funding applications, sharing of research facilities and human resources.
The agreement opens up opportunities for joint graduate and post-graduate programmes in niche areas of applied research like artificial intelligence and machine learning, materials engineering, chemical sciences, bio and food technology, environmental engineering etc, he added.
Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan urged the students of NIT Calicut to explore the exciting opportunities to pursue research in frontier areas of science. Dr. U. S. Hareesh, Head of the Human Resources and Academic Division, presented the priority areas of the Institute in research. Dr. P. Nishy, Head of the Business Development Unit, outlined the aspects of carrying this partnership forward to the benefits and advantages of both the institutes.
