Visit of Dr M. S. Lakshmi Priya, IAS, Secretary, Coir Board
Dr M. S. Lakshmi Priya, IAS (2014 batch), Secretary, Coir Board, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, paid a visit to Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, as part of efforts to explore avenues for mutual collaboration and institutional cooperation.
The meeting focused on identifying potential areas of collaboration between NIT Calicut and the Coir Board, particularly in research and development, technology, innovation, skill development, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and industry–academia partnerships in the coir sector.
The interaction also explored opportunities for leveraging the expertise and infrastructure of NIT Calicut to support technology development, product innovation, value addition, and capacity building in the coir industry.
The visit marks a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between the Government of India’s Coir Board, under the Ministry of MSME, and NIT Calicut, with the shared objective of promoting innovation, sustainable technologies, and socio-economic development in the coir sector.
Dr Mohammed Firoz, Dr Shabina Ashraf and Dr Yogeshwar Vijaykumar Navandar were also present during the interaction.
