Van Mahotsav Celebrated at NIT Calicut with "Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam"
NIT Calicut celebrated Van Mahotsav with great enthusiasm, reaffirming its dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable practices. The event was themed "Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam", symbolizing a heartfelt tribute to nature and motherhood through tree planting.
The celebration commenced with the ceremonial planting of saplings within the NITC campus. The plantation drive was led by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, in the esteemed presence of Smt. R. Keerthi, IFoS, Conservator of Forests (Social Forestry), Northern Region, Dr. A. Shaija, Dean (Planning and Development), and Dr. M.S. Sunitha, Dean (Faculty & Staff Welfare).
Following the plantation activity, a special talk was delivered by Smt. Manju K.P., District Coordinator, Kerala State Biodiversity Board, Kozhikode. Her address highlighted the significance of biodiversity, the role of individuals and institutions in preserving ecological balance, and the importance of sustained green initiatives.
The event served as a reminder of NIT Calicut’s enduring commitment to creating a greener, healthier environment and promoting awareness about the need for collective ecological responsibility.
