Two-Day National Wellness Seminar for Deans (Students’ Welfare) of NITs commenced at NIT Calicut

The Two-Day National Wellness Seminar for Deans (Students’ Welfare) of NITs commenced at NIT Calicut on 20 August 2026, bringing together Deans (Students’ Welfare) from NITs across India under the theme “Building Healthy, Resilient and Inclusive Campuses: A Collaborative Approach to Student Well-being.”

The seminar was inaugurated with the welcome address by Dr. Satyananda Panda, Dean (Students’ Welfare), NIT Calicut, followed by the presidential address by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut. The inaugural session also featured an address by Prof. Bindu Menon, Amrita Health Sciences Campus, Kochi, and a special address by Shri Heera Lal, IRS, Deputy Secretary, NIT Division, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

In his address, Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, highlighted the importance of creating campus environments in which student well-being is integral to academic excellence. He emphasised that healthy and resilient institutions are built through collective responsibility, empathy, inclusivity and sustained collaboration among all stakeholders.

The two-day seminar provides a national platform for NITs to exchange experiences, share effective practices, and explore collaborative approaches to strengthening student wellness, mental well-being, and inclusive campus communities.

As Deans from NITs across the country come together at NIT Calicut, the seminar reinforces a shared commitment to building healthier, more resilient, and more inclusive campuses where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.
