Smart Laundry System Introduced in Ladies’ Hostels at NIT Calicut

The National Institute of Technology Calicut has introduced an advanced IoT-based smart laundry system in the ladies’ hostels to enhance convenience and efficiency for students. The facility was inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, in the presence of Dr Shaija A., Dean (Planning and Development), Dr Satyananda Panda, Dean (Students’ Welfare) and Dr K. Haribabu, Chairperson, Council of Wardens.
Designed to cater to around 1,500 residents, the system includes 10 washing machines and 2 dryers. Washing and drying processes are managed separately, ensuring smooth operations and better workflow management.
This modern setup significantly reduces wait times, optimises machine utilisation, and offers a more organised, hassle-free laundry experience for students. By integrating smart technology into everyday campus services, the initiative marks a step forward in improving operational efficiency and delivering a seamless, user-friendly facility.
