Skill development programme on modern electric vehicles conducted at NIT Calicut

NIT Calicut, in collaboration with the Kerala State Electronics Service Technicians Association (KSESTA), conducted a Skill Development Programme on Modern Electric Vehicles (MEV 2023) for electronic technicians from all over the state. The program aims to equip technicians with essential knowledge and practical skills in the maintenance, repair, design, and upgradation of modern electric vehicles. 

Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut inaugurated this programme on 24th May, 2023. In the inaugural address, he emphasized the necessity of such workshops in enhancing technical skills, which are currently in high demand. He also expressed support for collective endeavours and reaffirmed the institution's commitment to driving innovation in the electric vehicle sector. Prof. Preetha P, Head of Electrical Engineering Department felicitated the gathering during the inaugural function. 

The Skill Development Training Series on Modern Electric Vehicles is designed to empower participants with the necessary expertise to navigate the promising domain of electric vehicles. Scheduled to be conducted on a monthly basis, this comprehensive training series provides continuous opportunities for individuals interested in exploring the ever-evolving realm of electric vehicles. This training programme spanned three days, each focusing on different aspects of electric vehicle technology. The sessions were handled by experts working in the areas of Electric Vehicles and related technologies. The distinguished speakers were Prof, Jagadanand G, Dr. Nikhil Sasidharan, Dr. Shreelakshmi M P (faculty members)  and Mr. Nithin T (Research Scholar) of the Electrical Engineering Department of NITC . The research scholars of NIT Calicut Mr. Kannan S. A, Mr. Akhil Raj and Mr. Renjith G, demonstrated a prototype of Electric vehicle developed by them, for clear understanding of the various parts.  A hands-on session specifically focused on battery chargers was conducted for enhancing their design and debugging capabilities. A debugging contest was held on the last day of the training programme. The training series concluded with a valedictory function, where certificates were distributed to the participants.

This initiative highlights NIT Calicut's dedication towards excellence and promoting sustainable practices in the field of electric vehicle engineering, solidifying its position as a leading institution in this field. As the demand for servicing and repairing electric vehicles is rapidly increasing, this skill development program addresses the current need of the hour.
