Republic Day Celebrations at NIT Calicut
The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great pride and patriotic fervour at NIT Calicut at Pragati Bhavan. Students, faculty members, officers, and staff assembled at the venue, followed by the arrival of the Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments, and the Hon’ble Director, Prof. Prasad Krishna, along with the Chief Guest, Lt. Col. Mathew P. A., Shaurya Chakra and Sena Medal awardee.
The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Hon’ble Director, Prof. Prasad Krishna, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. This was followed by an impressive NCC Parade and a disciplined parade by the Security Guards, symbolising unity, discipline, and national spirit.
In his Republic Day message, the Hon’ble Director, Prof. Prasad Krishna, highlighted the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, emphasizing the importance of hard work, dedication, and collective effort in achieving the goal of a developed India. The Chief Guest, Lt. Col. Mathew P. A., Shaurya Chakra and Sena Medal awardee, addressed the gathering and inspired the audience by quoting Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on dreams and nation-building, urging students to contribute actively towards the upliftment of the nation.
The programme also included a flag march and procession, followed by cultural performances by students, adding colour and vibrancy to the celebration. The event concluded with refreshments. Deans, the Registrar, faculty members, officers, staff, and students participated enthusiastically, making the celebration a memorable one.
