Quest for Global Eminence: Prof. Nagarajan Visits NIT Calicut
NIT Calicut hosted Prof. Nagarajan, Professor of Chemical Engineering and former Dean (International & Alumni Relations) at IIT Madras, for a day-long visit that focused on strategies for achieving global eminence in higher education.
Prof. Nagarajan, an accomplished academic and administrator with global experience at Yale University, IBM, and IIT Madras, interacted with the Institute leadership, faculty, staff, and alumni, sharing his insights on building strong institutional foundations and global reputation.
The visit began with a meeting with the Director, followed by an interactive session with the Deans in the Board Room. Later, Prof. Nagarajan met , Heads of Departments, Coordinators of various Centres, and CQAE/IQAC members ,staff of the Dean (IACR) office in the Senate Hall. He also engaged with NITC alumni, highlighting the importance of alumni networks and international collaborations.
In his interactions, Prof. Nagarajan emphasized that reputed institutions aspiring for global recognition must overcome challenges in funding, research, teaching, industry engagement, alumni relations, and global outreach. He stressed the need for visionary leadership, strategic planning, and flawless execution, supported by measurable targets and robust action plans.
The visit concluded with a debrief session with the Director. Discussions centered on short- and long-term benchmarks for NITC, and the development of a roadmap to strengthen its national and international standing.
Prof. Nagarajan’s visit was warmly received by the NITC community and is expected to pave the way for enhanced collaborations, stronger alumni engagement, and renewed efforts toward the Institute’s quest for global eminence.
