Orientation Programme for ITEP Students, Department of Education, NIT Calicut – 2026
The Department of Education, National Institute of Technology Calicut, organised an Orientation Programme for Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) students on 19 August 2026 at the Senate Hall, Pragati Bhavan. The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. A. Sujith, Head of the Department of Education, followed by the inaugural address by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, who encouraged students to pursue reflective and meaningful learning, actively engage with campus life, and develop a strong commitment to the teaching profession. On behalf of the Department of Education, Dr. Tarun De presented a brief overview of the Department and the four-year ITEP, highlighting its interdisciplinary academic and professional components. The programme featured expert talks by Dr. Bindu Tirumalai, NIAS Bengaluru, on professional noticing and reflective teaching; Dr. Geetha Gopinath, University of Hyderabad, on the why, how and what of effective teaching; and Dr. U. K. Abdunnasar, DIET Kozhikode, on integrating technology and pedagogy to shape future classrooms. The sessions emphasised the development of reflective, empathetic, innovative, and socially responsible teachers. An interactive session with the resource persons followed the talks. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shashank Singh, Department of Education, followed by refreshments.
