OBSERVANCE OF ANTI-RAGGING DAY – NIT CALICUT – 12 AUGUST 2025
The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2025 with a series of engaging and thought-provoking activities aimed at spreading awareness about the ill effects of ragging and reinforcing the institute’s zero-tolerance policy towards such practices.
The observance began with a warm welcome to all attendees, including students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff, who gathered to collectively reaffirm their commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
As part of the day’s programmes, three major events were organized:
Drama Performance – A powerful and well-scripted drama was staged by the student community, portraying the emotional and psychological consequences of ragging. The performance conveyed a strong message of empathy, respect, and unity among peers, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
Elocution Competition – Students showcased their oratory skills in a spirited elocution contest, delivering speeches on themes related to anti-ragging awareness, student rights, and the importance of fostering a culture of kindness. The competition highlighted the intellectual engagement of students with this important social issue.
Treasure Hunt – Adding an element of fun to the awareness campaign, a creative treasure hunt was conducted with clues and tasks related to anti-ragging messages. This interactive activity not only encouraged teamwork but also reinforced the day’s theme in a lively and memorable manner.
The programme was well-attended and received enthusiastic participation from the entire campus community. Faculty members and staff expressed their appreciation for the initiatives taken by students to spread awareness in innovative ways.
The observance of Anti-Ragging Day at NIT Calicut served as a reminder of the institute’s dedication to providing a safe and supportive academic environment for all. The day concluded with a collective pledge by the attendees to stand united against ragging and to uphold the values of respect, empathy, and mutual understanding.
