The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut) proudly welcomed more than 1,600 newly admitted undergraduate students as part of the UG Orientation Programme 2026, marking the highest-ever undergraduate admission in the history of the institute.

The new cohort includes students joining the B.Tech., B.Arch., and ITEP (B.Sc.-B.Ed.) programmes, reflecting NIT Calicut’s continued academic growth and expanding opportunities for students.

The orientation programme was inaugurated by Dr. Jayaraj U. Kidav, Executive Director, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kozhikode, who was the Chief Guest. Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, presided over the function. Dr. A. V. Babu, Dean (Academic), NIT Calicut, was also present.

Addressing the newly admitted students, Prof. Prasad Krishna highlighted the significance of this milestone:

“You have entered NIT Calicut at a significant moment in its history. This year, we are welcoming the largest number of undergraduate students ever admitted to the institute, with more than 1,600 joining our B.Tech., B.Arch., and ITEP programmes. This is not merely a number; it reflects the growing trust placed in NIT Calicut and the expanding opportunities available to our students.”
