The newly renovated 25-meter swimming pool- 'JALADHI' at the National Institute of Technology Calicut was officially inaugurated on November 12, 2024. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, who emphasised the importance of swimming as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. In his inaugural address, the director highlighted the significance of encouraging swimming activities to foster a balanced lifestyle for students and staff, noting that regular physical exercise is key to maintaining both physical and mental health, particularly in today’s high-pressure academic environment. The newly renovated pool was opened for use by the NIT Calicut community, offering students, faculty, and non-faculty members a valuable resource for recreation and fitness. The inaugural function was attended by several dignitaries, including Prof. Satyananda Panda, Dean of Students Welfare, Mr. Gejo C.V., Registrar In-Charge, Prof. Rajanikant G.K., Former Dean of Students Welfare, Superintending Engineer Mr. Sreenesh S, Dr. Shyni Anil Kumar, and Mr. Dhanesh Rambeth. There were also many members of the campus community, including students, faculty, and non-faculty.
