NIT Calicut Students Shine at All India Inter-NIT Sports Tournament 2026

NIT Calicut students delivered an outstanding performance at the All India Inter-NIT Sports Tournament, held at NIT Surathkal from 9th to 11th January 2026, bringing pride and glory to the institute through their remarkable achievements in Badminton and Ball Badminton.

At the outset, NIT Calicut extends hearty congratulations to all the players, coaches, and supporting staff members for their dedication, discipline, and exceptional sporting spirit displayed during the tournament.

Men’s Badminton Team Crowned Champions

The Men’s Badminton Team of NIT Calicut emerged as the CHAMPIONS, ending a seven-year gap and marking a historic comeback. Competing against 28 teams from NITs across the country, the team showcased complete dominance by winning the tournament without losing a single match.

Adding to this proud moment, Mr. Aravind Kudpi Rao (B220074EC) was honoured as the Best Player of the Tournament, recognizing his exceptional skill, consistency, and match-winning performances throughout the championship.

This remarkable achievement stands as strong evidence of the team’s commitment, teamwork, and the excellent coaching support provided by Mr. Nanda Kumar K. K., whose guidance played a vital role in the team’s success.

Women’s Ball Badminton Team Secures Runner-Up Position

The Women’s Ball Badminton Team of NIT Calicut also created history by securing the RUNNER-UP POSITION at the tournament. This event holds special significance as it was the first-ever Ball Badminton tournament conducted in the history of the NIT system, making their achievement even more memorable.

The team displayed remarkable skill, determination, and fighting spirit throughout the competition, earning widespread appreciation from spectators and officials alike.

Special recognition is due to the Team Captain, CH Varshini, and Vice-Captain, Fathima Farzana, whose exemplary leadership and outstanding performances were instrumental in guiding the team to the Runners-Up Trophy.
