NIT Calicut Signs MoU with TU Berlin to Foster Global Academic Collaboration
In a landmark initiative to strengthen international academic cooperation, the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) on 12 may 2025. The MoU was formalized at TU Berlin in the presence of faculty members and delegates from both institutions.
This agreement aims to promote academic exchange, joint research initiatives, and collaboration in key domains such as international urbanism, sustainable urban development, and architectural design. It represents a strategic step towards enabling impactful interdisciplinary projects and enhancing student and faculty mobility between India and Germany.
The MoU signing took place during the official NITC Delegation to Europe, led by Prof. (Dr.) Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut. The delegation also included:
Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Varma Mundakkara Kovilakam, Dean (International Affairs and Corporate Relations),Dr. Maneesh Chandran, Associate Dean (International Relations) and Ms. Kavitha Gajanur Rudrappa, Advisor (International Relations).
TU Berlin was represented by Prof. Dr. Anke Hagemann, a distinguished expert in urban design and international planning strategies. Dr. Chithra K from NITC’s Department of Architecture served as the faculty lead for this initiative and was instrumental in facilitating the collaboration.
This MoU reaffirms the mutual commitment of both institutions to address global urban challenges through collaborative research and academic exchange. It also aligns with NIT Calicut’s vision of emerging as a leading global center for academic and research excellence.
