NIT Calicut NCC Cadets Visit the Indian Naval Academy as Part of MoU Activities

As part of the ongoing collaboration under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) and the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, a group of NCC cadets and faculty members from NIT Calicut recently visited the prestigious Naval Academy. This visit marked a significant step toward strengthening the academic and professional partnership between the two premier institutions of national importance.

The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the students to experience and understand the discipline, dedication, and technical excellence that define the Indian Navy. The cadets and faculty interacted closely with the naval officers and staff, gaining firsthand insights into the operations, training, and technological infrastructure of the Indian Navy. Through engaging discussions and demonstrations, the participants were introduced to various aspects of naval life, including the organizational structure, career pathways, and advanced technologies employed in maritime defense.

A highlight of the visit was the team’s exposure to the real-time radar facilities, where they observed how sophisticated monitoring systems support the Navy’s surveillance and communication networks. The group also explored the Marakkar Watermanship Training Centre, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to honing the watermanship and seafaring skills of naval cadets. This experience allowed NITC’s NCC cadets to gain a deeper appreciation of maritime operations, leadership, and teamwork in real-world scenarios.

The visit was organized under the guidance of Dr. Basil Kuriachen, Caretaking Officer, NCC NIT Calicut, whose leadership ensured a well-coordinated and enriching learning experience for all participants. The team was accompanied by Cadet Captain (CC) Jeayavanth V H, who played a key role in coordinating activities and ensuring smooth interaction with the naval authorities.

The collaborative visit not only fostered a spirit of patriotism and service among the students but also highlighted the importance of experiential learning in shaping future leaders. Such initiatives under the NITC–INA MoU aim to create avenues for knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and experiential exposure that align with the shared vision of both institutions to nurture technically skilled and socially responsible individuals dedicated to the nation’s service.

This visit stands as a testament to NIT Calicut’s commitment to providing its students with holistic learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application through partnerships with esteemed institutions like the Indian Naval Academy.
