NIT Calicut Launches 5-Day Training Program for Navodaya Vidyalaya Teachers
The Department of Education at the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), in collaboration with the Centre for Continuing Education and Skill Development, has launched a 5-day comprehensive training program titled "Training Program on Subject Enrichment, Creative Pedagogy, and Capacity Building." This specialized workshop is designed for 50 mathematics and science teachers from various Navodaya Vidyalayas across the Hyderabad region, equipping them with cutting-edge teaching methodologies and technology-enabled strategies.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, who addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of professional development for educators through mindfulness. Prof. Sajith V, Chairperson of the Centre for Continuing Education and Skill Development, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Geetha Gopinath, Head of the Department of Education, provided an overview of the program’s objectives and structure.
Running from 11th to 15th November 2024, the workshop covers a wide range of topics, including child psychology, digital pedagogy, and advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching. Emphasizing technology integration and effective classroom management, the program aims to equip teachers with skills that will enable them to engage students more dynamically and adapt to the demands of a rapidly evolving educational landscape.
This initiative recognizes the pivotal role Navodaya Vidyalaya teachers play in shaping the minds of young learners across the nation. By equipping them with practical tools and innovative methodologies, the program empowers teachers to apply these approaches immediately in their classrooms, enhancing the overall learning experience.
