NIT Calicut joins Swachhta Hi Seva Shramadaan

Swachh Bharat initiatives ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath’ and ‘Special Campaign 3.0’, were observed at NIT Calicut on Sunday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Team NITC joined the ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath’ - a national call to action for 1 Hour of citizen-led ‘Shramdaan for Swachhata’ to uphold the Motto “Garbage Free India”. 

Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut in his address highlighted the role of students to make 'Clean and Green India' a reality. He also stressed to practice cleanliness on a regular and continuous basis since the concept of cleanliness leads to an overall improvement in the credibility of the academic institution.

Dr. Chandra Shekar Bestha, S/Lt. Associate NCC Officer & Nodal Officer SHS 2023, Shri. Ramesh S, Assistant Registrar (Estate) and Shri. Biju MM Security Officer co-ordinated the ‘Swachh Bharat’ Activities. The Swachhata Hi Seva drive was conducted in a 2.5 Km stretch in the Calicut - Mukkam Road and a total of 750 Kg of plastic and wet waste were cleared. All the students, faculty and staff members at NIT Calicut and volunteers from the nearby institutions like NIELIT, REC Higher Secondary School, Chathamangalam and Spring Valley School, NITC participated in the Cleanliness Drive.
