NIT Calicut Inaugurates “Dhwani” A Landmark Multipurpose Hall Blending Innovation and Architectural Excellence
The new multipurpose hall “Dhwani” at National Institute of Technology Calicut was formally inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, in the presence of Dr. A. Shaija, Dean (Planning and Development), Dr. M.S. Sunitha, Dean (Faculty and Staff Welfare), Dr. Babu A.V., Dean Academics, Dr. Sunil Jacob John, Registrar, and other senior institute officials.
“Dhwani” stands as a landmark addition to the institute’s infrastructure, seamlessly blending modern engineering with architectural elegance. Designed as a state-of-the-art tensile membrane structure, the open column-free venue offers a spacious and versatile environment capable of accommodating more than 700 people for academic, cultural, and institutional events.
Constructed using a high-performance PVDF-coated PVC tensile membrane supported by a lightweight steel framework, Dhwani reflects NIT Calicut’s commitment to innovation, functionality, and sustainable design. Its distinctive droplet-inspired form, seamless roof canopy, and expansive covered space create a visually striking and climate-responsive venue at the heart of the campus.
The project showcases advanced structural engineering and contemporary construction techniques, further enriching the academic ambience and community experience at NIT Calicut.
