NIT Calicut Commemorates Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas with Grand Celebrations
National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) celebrated Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, with fervor and cultural grandeur. Director of NIT Calicut, Prof. Prasad Krishna, highlighted the institute’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and fostering appreciation for India’s diverse cultural heritage. “Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s legacy continues to inspire us to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of tribal communities in shaping our nation. At NIT Calicut, we aim to integrate these values into education and community outreach,” he remarked.
The event, dedicated to honoring the legacy of tribal communities and their invaluable contributions to India's heritage, was graced by eminent personalities—Padma Shri Cheruvayal Raman (, Padma Shri Ali Manikfan, and Smt. Nanjiyamma, the acclaimed playback singer and National Award winner.
The celebrations commenced with a ceremonial tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the legendary tribal leader and freedom fighter whose life symbolizes resistance, resilience, and empowerment. A series of cultural performances and discussions underscored the significance of tribal culture and its continued influence on India’s socio-cultural fabric.
Padma Shri Cheruvayal Raman, known for his dedication to preserving indigenous farming practices and biodiversity, shared insights into the sustainable practices of tribal communities and their harmony with nature.
