NIT Calicut Celebrates its 65th Foundation Day
The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) celebrated its 65th Foundation Day on 1st September 2025 with great enthusiasm and reverence. This significant occasion provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the institute’s rich legacy, acknowledge the dedication of those who have contributed to its growth, and reaffirm our shared commitment to its continued excellence.
The day’s proceedings began with the planting of saplings, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and the nurturing of future generations.
The formal ceremony commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Preeti Navaneeth, Chairperson, C-PRIME, followed by the State of the Institute Address delivered by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NITC, highlighting the institution’s achievements and future roadmap.
The Dr. M.V. Kesava Rao Memorial Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by Dr. Duvvuri Seshagiri, Director, Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory, Kochi, offering deep insights into cutting-edge research and innovation. This was followed by a felicitation by Ms. Sowmya Kesava Rao, granddaughter of Prof. M.V. Kesava Rao, in honor of his lasting contributions.
The Guests of Honour, Mr. Sailesh Shetty, Alumnus of NITC and Former COO of Kirloskar Toyota, and Brahmacharini Disha Chaitanya from Chinmaya Mission, addressed the gathering, sharing their thoughts and inspirations.
On this occasion, the magazine “Sambhashanam 2025” was formally released, marking yet another milestone in the institute’s tradition of knowledge sharing.
A felicitation speech was delivered by Prof. M.S. Sunitha, Registrar (In-Charge), acknowledging the contributions of the NITC community.

The Young Investigator Award 2025, encouraging promising researchers in their early careers.
The 65th Foundation Day thus served as a proud reminder of NITC’s journey over the decades and its continuing pursuit of excellence in education, research, and service to the nation.
