NIT Calicut Athletes Shine at All India Inter-NIT Tournaments

Athletes from the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut) delivered stellar performances at the recent All India Inter-NIT Tournaments, bringing laurels to the institute through their exceptional achievements across multiple sporting disciplines.

Women’s Kabaddi Team Crowned Champions

The Women’s Kabaddi Team of NIT Calicut emerged as Champions at the All India Inter-NIT Kabaddi Tournament, held at NIT Delhi from 21 to 23 December 2025. The team displayed outstanding skill, coordination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Strong leadership by the team captain played a pivotal role in securing the championship title.

The team also earned notable individual accolades:

  • Ms. Brindha G (B220790ME) – Best Defender Award

  • Ms. Afroos Shahna PP (B241370CS) – Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Tournament

The team’s success was guided by the dedicated coaching efforts of Ms. Anupama Prasannan and Mr. Vysakh T. P.

Impressive Medal Haul in Power Sports

The Power Sports Team of NIT Calicut delivered commendable performances at the All India Inter-NIT Power Sports Tournament, securing medals in multiple events:

  • Powerlifting:
    Nongmaithem Sagar (B210126AR) – Gold Medal (93 kg category)

  • Weightlifting:
    Akash Kumar (B220141PE) – Bronze Medal (81 kg category)

  • Bodybuilding:
    Piyush Vats (B231167EC) – Bronze Medal (80 kg category)

These achievements reflect the athletes’ dedication and the effective coaching guidance provided by Mr. Rohith Vijay V and Ms. Devika Dinesh.

Participation in Other Events

In addition, the Men’s Kabaddi and Tug of War teams of NIT Calicut participated in the tournaments and showcased commendable performances, contributing to the institute’s strong overall presence at the national level.
