The SILA scholarships for B.Tech. students of the Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Calicut has been announced.  Ms. Aiswarya Rammohan (Third semester: CGPA 9.92), Mr. Akash Verma (Fifth semester: CGPA 9.56), and Ms. Sreelekshmi S. (Seventh semester: CGPA 9.33) will receive Rs. 50,000/-(Rupees fifty thousand only) each, for securing the top CGPA at the end of their first, second and third year of study of the B.Tech Civil Engineering degree programme.

Ms. Nandana Rajeevan (Third semester: CGPA 9.73), Ms. Tanisha Jha (Fifth semester: CGPA 9.43), and Ms. Kripa U. (Seventh semester: 8.97) will receive Rs. 20,000/-(Rupees Twenty thousand only) for securing the second highest CGPA at the end of their first, second and third year of study of the B.Tech Civil Engineering degree programme.

The SILA scholarship was instituted by a distinguished alumnus of CREC 1967 – 1972 B. Tech Civil Engineering programme of the National Institute of Technology Calicut, Shri. Sivaramakrishnan S. Iyer, for students of the Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Calicut. The SILA scholarship was instituted in memory of his parents, Subramonia Iyer and Lekshmi Ammal. An amount of Rs. 40, 00,000 was donated to CREC SJET (Calicut Regional Engineering College Silver Jubilee Endowment Trust), the interest from which is being utilised for the disbursement of scholarships. For the year 2024-2025, the total scholarship amount is Rs. 2, 10,000/- (Rupees Two lakhs and Ten thousand only).
