NIT Calicut announces SILA Scholarships for Civil Engineering Students
The SILA scholarships for B.Tech. students of the Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Calicut has been announced. Mr. Akash Verma (Third semester: CGPA 9.41), Ms. Sreelekshmi S. (Fifth semester: CGPA 9.32), and Ms. A. Anjana (Seventh semester: CGPA 9.88) will receive Rs. 50,000 each, for securing the top CGPA at the end of their first, second and third year of study of the B.Tech Civil Engineering degree programme.
Ms. Astha Pandey (Third semester: CGPA 9.15), Mr. Rajdip Das (Fifth semester: CGPA 8.96), and Mr. Gompa Naveen (Seventh semester: 9.45) will receive Rs. 20,000for securing the second highest CGPA at the end of their first, second and third year of study of the B.Tech Civil Engineering degree programme.
The SILA scholarship was instituted by a distinguished alumnus of CREC 1967 – 1972 B. Tech Civil Engineering programme of the National Institute of Technology Calicut, Shri. Sivaramakrishnan S. Iyer, for students of the Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Calicut. The SILA scholarship was instituted in memory of his parents, Subramonia Iyer and Lekshmi Ammal. An amount of Rs. 40, 00,000 was donated to CREC SJET (CREC Silver Jubilee Endowment Trust), the interest from which is being utilised for the disbursement of scholarships. For the year 2023-2024, the total scholarship amount is Rs. 2.1 lakh.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the scholarship is being awarded.
