NIT Calicut & Bureau of Indian Standards Launch Student Chapters & “Standards Arena”

The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), has inaugurated five BIS Student Chapters along with a dedicated BIS Corner – the “Standards Arena.”

This initiative is designed to embed the principles of standardization, quality, and innovation into technical education, providing students with practical exposure to national and global quality standard

Inauguration Highlights

Presidential Address: Dr. Meenakshi Ganesan, Scientist G & Deputy Director General (Southern Region), BIS.

Director’s Remarks: Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NITC, emphasized the strategic role of standards in driving research, development, and innovation.

Mentor Recognition: Certificates were awarded to faculty mentors guiding the newly formed chapters.

The Standards Arena

Located at NITC’s E-Cube Resource Center, the Standards Arena will serve as a knowledge hub for students and faculty, offering easy access to BIS standards, publications, and resources.
