National Seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Chemical Sciences’ Inaugurated at National Institute of Technology Calicut

A National Seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Chemical Sciences’ was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut), bringing together eminent academicians, researchers, and students from across the state.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Department of Chemistry, NIT Calicut, and the Calicut Chemistry Collective (CCC). The event was held in honour of Dr. N. Sitaraman, Former Professor of the Department of Chemistry, NIT Calicut, in recognition of his valuable contributions to teaching and research.

The inaugural address and keynote lecture were delivered by Prof. P. Raveendran, Vice-Chancellor of University of Calicut. The gathering was welcomed by Dr. M. Sankaralingam of the Department of Chemistry, NIT Calicut.

The presidential address was delivered by Dr. P. S. Harikumar, President of CCC. As part of the programme, Prof. G. Unnikrishnan, Head of the Department of Chemistry, NIT Calicut, spoke about Prof. N. Sitaraman and highlighted his significant contributions to academic and research excellence.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. K. K. Devadasan, Secretary of CCC.

The seminar also featured distinguished speakers, including Prof. Yahya A. Ismail from the University of Calicut and Dr. Raju Dey from the Department of Chemistry, NIT Calicut, who delivered insightful lectures on contemporary developments and emerging trends in chemical research.

The programme provided a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing, academic interaction, and discussions on the latest advancements in chemical sciences.
