National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) Hosts One-Day Faculty Wellness Workshop on "Cultivating Wellness in Academia"
The Student Guidance Cell (SGC) from the office of Dean Students Welfare at NIT Calicut successfully organized a One-Day Faculty Wellness Workshop on 31-07-2026 titled "Cultivating Wellness in Academia" today at the Senate Hall. The workshop aimed to address mental health, stress management, and digital well-being among educators navigating today's dynamic academic environment. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, who emphasized the critical importance of holistic well-being and institutional support for faculty members during his presidential address. The event commenced with an address by Prof. Satyananda Panda, Dean (Student Welfare), followed by the insightful sessions by the invited speakers. Around 90 faculty members including faculty advisors, and wardens attended the sessions that will help in creating a healthy and happy academic environment.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in a series of highly informative and interactive sessions led by distinguished domain experts. Prof. Namita Ranganathan from the University of Delhi addressed the psychological world of contemporary youth, while Dr. Suresh Purini from IIIT Hyderabad led a session on maintaining faculty wellbeing amidst academic challenges. Dr. Jyoti Sangle, consultant psychiatrist at IIT Bombay, shared crucial perspectives on identifying student mental health warning signs, and BK Hima Varsha, Digital Wellness Ambassador from Brahma Kumaris, delivered an engaging presentation on balancing technology with inner peace. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks.
