Ministry of Minority Affairs, NIT Calicut and Central University of Kerala Sign Historic MoU for PM VIKAS Initiative

The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, and the Central University of Kerala, marked a significant milestone in inclusive development and skill empowerment with the signing of a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the PM VIKAS (Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan) initiative.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Shri George Kurian, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, and Minority Affairs. The initiative aims to strengthen livelihood opportunities, entrepreneurship, and skill development among minority and marginalized communities through structured training and capacity-building programmes.

The MoU was signed and exchanged in the presence of Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut; Prof. Siddu P. Algur, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Kerala; Prof. V.B. Sameer Kumar, Registrar, Central University of Kerala; and Dr. Sunil Jacob John, Registrar, NIT Calicut.

As part of the event, a detailed technical presentation was delivered outlining the operational framework of the PM VIKAS initiative, including specialized training modules, implementation strategies, and innovative credit-sharing and certification mechanisms designed to enhance employability and long-term career opportunities for beneficiaries.

The programme witnessed the participation of academic leaders, institutional representatives, and stakeholders from across Kerala, reflecting a collective commitment towards inclusive growth, skill development, and national progress through collaborative institutional partnerships.
