Milma's First Veg & Non-Vegetarian priority outlet Opens at NIT Calicut
The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) marked a significant milestone on July 31, 2025, with the grand reopening of the renovated Swadishtam canteen, now operated in collaboration with Milma (Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation).
The revamped facility was inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NITC, in the esteemed presence of Mr. K.S. Mani, Chairman and Managing Director of Milma, Dr. Shaija A, Dean (Planning & Development), Mr. K.C. James, Managing Director of Malabar Milma, Mr. R.S. Vinodkumar, Senior Manager, Kozhikode Dairy, and Mr. Santhosh P.R., Manager (Marketing), Milma.
Swadishtam now proudly stands as Milma’s first priority outlet to offer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine, breaking away from the brand's traditionally vegetarian offerings. The upgrade is part of a broader initiative to enhance dining experiences for the NITC community, ensuring quality, hygiene, and variety.
During the event, Mr. K.S. Mani highlighted Milma’s commitment to its non-profit cooperative model, with a focus on farmer welfare and consumer health, rather than commercial gain. Prof. Prasad Krishna commended Milma’s long-standing reliability and expressed confidence in the outlet's ability to provide nutritious and diverse meals to students, faculty, and staff.
The inauguration concluded with a tasting session of the new menu, which received enthusiastic responses from attendees. With upgraded facilities and expanded offerings, Swadishtam is poised to become a preferred dining destination on the NITC campus.
