Math, Coding & AI Summer Camp Kicks Off at NIT Calicut
A five-day residential summer camp organised by MathLab SkillRealm in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and the Centre for Continuing Education and Skill Development started at NIT Calicut on May 27. The Math, Coding & AI 5 Camp commenced a vibrant inaugural ceremony at Ramanujan Hall, Department of Mathematics.
Prof. Prasad Krishna, the Director of NIT Calicut, inaugurated the camp with an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in enhancing student’s technical skills and preparing them for future challenges in the ever-evolving technological landscape.
Dr. Mahesh Kumar, the Head of the Department of Mathematics, NIT Calicut, welcomed all the participants and their parents, setting a tone of enthusiasm and eagerness for the days ahead. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Anoop N. Nair, the project coordinator, who highlighted the objectives and aspirations of the camp.
Ms. Hanna Maryam, the CEO of MathLab SkillRealm, provided an insightful overview of the camp's structure, content, and objectives, outlining the comprehensive learning experience designed for the students. Dr. V. Sajith, the Chairperson of the Centre for Continuing Education and Skill Development, felicitated the event, praising the collaborative efforts that made the camp possible.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Lineesh M. C., the program coordinator, Department of Mathematics, NIT Calicut, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, participants, parents and supporting staff.
The camp is open to students from 8th to 12th grade. It includes sessions on mathematical foundations for AI, Python coding, the creation of basic AI models, and personality development, aiming to provide a holistic educational experience for the young participants.
