Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas Celebrated at NIT Calicut

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) observed Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas with great enthusiasm, celebrating the rich heritage, traditions, and contributions of India’s tribal communities. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, and featured distinguished guests and tribal artists who showcased the vibrant cultural legacy of indigenous communities.
As part of the celebration, Shri. Chandu Vaidyar, renowned practitioner of traditional tribal and Ayurvedic medicine, Smt. Nanjiyamma, National Award-winning playback singer, and Shri. P. V. Velayudhan, expert in Kambala Kali and Vattakali art forms, were felicitated for their invaluable contributions to preserving tribal traditions and culture.
The highlight of the event included captivating tribal cultural performances led by Smt. Nanjiyamma and her team, held at the Creative Zone on campus. The performances offered students and faculty a glimpse into the depth and beauty of India’s tribal artistry and oral traditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NIT Calicut, said:
