International Day of Yoga Observed at NITC

The Centre for Yoga and Holistic Wellness (CYHW) of National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) observed International Day of Yoga 2024 with a series of enriching programs aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NITC. The event also witnessed a special demonstration by Acharya P. Unniraman, Director of Patanjali Yoga Research Centre, Kozhikode, who showcased various yogic postures and guided participants through the practice.

Prof. Karunesh Kumar Shukla, Director of MANIT Bhopal, joined the Yoga Day celebrations with NITC faculty, staff, and students. Major highlights of the event included advanced yoga performances, where in each participant received a certificate and cash award of Rs.1000. The award ceremony took place at the Yoga Hall, located in the Mega Boys’ Hostel.

In addition to the main event, NITC also organized a three-day free Yoga-Meditation Training for its community members. This initiative was a collaborative effort between the Centre for Women Welfare and Social Empowerment (CWSE) and CYHW. 

Prof. Prasad Krishna and his wife Smt. Ranjini Prasad led the meditation sessions, while the yoga sessions were conducted by Acharya Unniraman providing comprehensive training in both disciplines. 

CWSE also hosted a special session titled "Empowering Women Through Yoga: Principles to Practice," delivered by Dr. Smitha A.V., Professor and Head of PNNM Ayurveda Medical College. This session, aimed at women of all ages, saw participation from approximately 25 individuals, including NITC faculty, staff, students, and their family members.
