IEEE SB NITC has been honored with the Outstanding Student Branch Award by the IEEE Kerala Section, a recognition of its steadfast commitment to excellence in leadership, professional development, and humanitarian endeavors. The branch has achieved exponential growth, emerging as the largest student branch in the Kerala Section and the 9th largest globally. Beyond academic initiatives, IEEE SB NITC has actively engaged in impactful humanitarian efforts, such as assembling LED emergency lights in a single day for the Wayanad Landslide Relief, demonstrating the power of engineering in crisis management. The branch has also secured funding for innovative projects, including an AI-powered wildlife detection system, showcasing its dedication to leveraging technology for societal benefit.

Dr. Sameer S M, Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at NITC, has been awarded the IEEE Kerala Section Outstanding Teacher Award 2024. With nearly three decades of teaching experience, Dr. Sameer has been a pillar of academic excellence and mentorship, inspiring countless students through his dedication to education and leadership. He has held key roles such as Head of the ECE Department, Dean (Academic), and Head of Training and Placement. Dr. Sameer’s contributions to IEEE have been equally exceptional.

As the founding Secretary of the Malabar Subsection and with prior roles including Treasurer of IEEE India Council, Secretary of IEEE Region 10, and Chair of IEEE R10 Conference Quality Management, he has significantly advanced the organization's mission. His recent election as Region 10 Director-Elect (2025–26) is a testament to his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to the IEEE community. These honors reflect the collective dedication and innovation of IEEE SB NITC and its mentors.
