IEEE NITC SB Volunteers Produce 300 Emergency Torches for Wayanad Relief
The IEEE NITC SB volunteers from NIT Calicut undertook an impressive initiative to produce 300 emergency torches in support of IEEE Kerala SIGHT's relief efforts for Wayanad. Upon receiving the request on the evening of July 31, the dedicated team worked diligently through the night, completing the torches by noon on August 1.
The volunteers were responsible for every aspect of the task, including purchasing components, designing circuits, soldering, and assembling the torches. Their tireless efforts continued until 2:00 PM on August 1.
The completed torches were handed over to the Move India team, who will deliver them to the Wayanad disaster management team. This accomplishment was made possible with the support of Dr. Sindhu T. K., Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, who permitted the use of the department's workshop for the project.
The support of Mr. Nandakumar K., Senior Technical Assistant, and other EED technicians for their valuable technical support were also commendable. Financial assistance for the project was provided by IEEE Kerala SIGHT.
