Funding Boost for Innovators at NIT Calicut under GENESIS (MeitY, Govt. of India), TBI–NIT Calicut
GENESIS funding to innovators
GENESIS (Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups) is an umbrella programme of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, through which innovators are supported under various schemes by providing funding to build and scale their idea in to products. The Technology Business Incubator NIT Calicut (TBI-NITC) is an Enabling Partner for the GENESIS programme.
Under this component, TBI NIT Calicut selects eligible innovators for funding support, with a grant of up to Rs.10 lakhs per innovator. This year (2025-26), six innovators have been selected under Cohort–II of the EiR scheme.
In a function held at the Board Room at the Institute on 27 Jan 2026, Director of NITC, Prof. Prasad Krishna gave away the cheque to five selected innovators under GENESIS scheme. Out of the five, four teams are the students of NITC. The innovators who received the cheque are:
1. Sri. Suryakant Sahu & team
2. Sri. Krishnachandran & team
3. Sri. Arjith Lal C
4. Sri. Kotte Guru Aditya & team
5. Sri. Sidharth Rajagopal (innovator from Calicut)
The sixth innovator is Sri. Manan Vyas, is a student of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)
Dr. Sudheer A. P, Chairperson of Centre for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Incubation (CIEI), Dr. Sujith A (Secretary of TBI Society), Dr. Vinod Pathari (Jt. Secretary of TBI Society), faculty members who are the mentors of the innovators and TBI officials were present during the function.
