Foundation Stone Laid for Sushruta Swasthya Kendram at NIT Calicut
NIT Calicut has taken a significant step forward in promoting holistic well-being with the foundation stone laying of the Sushruta Swasthya Kendram, a modern wellness centre designed to enhance the physical and mental health of the campus community. This initiative aligns with the institute's broader mission of integrating well-being with academic excellence.
The project is a collaborative endeavor between NIT Calicut and the NIT Calicut Alumni Association (NITCAA), reflecting the power of alumni engagement in shaping a healthier future for students, faculty, and staff.
The ceremony commenced with a Welcome Address by Prof. Ravi Varma M. K., Dean IACR, who outlined the vision and objectives of the wellness centre. The event's highlight was the unveiling of the foundation plaque by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director NIT Calicut, followed by the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone, accompanied by distinguished guests.
In his address, Prof. Prasad Krishna emphasized the importance of the centre, describing it as a vital step toward fostering a culture of wellness across campus.
Mr. Thankachan Thomas V, President of NITCAA (2024–26), was honored for his leadership and pivotal role in driving the project forward, particularly in rallying alumni support and transforming vision into action.
Representing the 1999 Batch of NIT Calicut Dr. Saleel Ismail, Associate Professor,NITC acknowledged the generous contributions of his batchmates, underscoring the lasting impact and commitment of alumni toward the institute's development.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Ranganathan Ramani, Secretary of NITCAA who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all contributors and well-wishers for their steadfast support in making this wellness centre a reality.
