Electronic Banking Awareness and Training (e-BAAT) Programme Hosted at NIT Calicut
The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) hosted an Electronic Banking Awareness and Training (e-BAAT) Programme aimed at creating awareness about digital banking, cyber security, and career opportunities in the banking sector. The programme was conducted by officials from the Reserve Bank of India, Thiruvananthapuram.
The session was led by Mr. Nipun Chandran V. M., Manager, Integrated Banking Department, RBI Thiruvananthapuram, and Mr. Arun V. V., Assistant, Integrated Banking Department, RBI Thiruvananthapuram. The programme witnessed the participation of students, faculty members, and staff of the institute.
During the session, the RBI officials provided detailed insights into the advantages of digital payment ecosystems and highlighted the growing importance of cashless transactions in India. They also emphasized the need for ensuring secure digital transactions and explained the best practices that users should follow while using online banking and digital payment platforms.
The speakers discussed various cyber security threats and the modus operandi of cyber fraudsters, helping participants understand common online fraud techniques and the precautions required to safeguard financial information. The session also covered methods for protecting personal and banking data from cyber threats, thereby encouraging responsible and secure digital banking practices.
In addition, the officials introduced participants to career opportunities available in the Reserve Bank of India, explaining the recruitment process, roles, and professional growth prospects in the central banking system.
