COPEN13 concludes at NITC
The three day 13th International Conference on Precision, Meso, Micro, and Nano Engineering, COPEN13, held at NIT Calicut concluded on the 15th of Decemeber, Sunday, having witnessed enthusiastic participation from academia, research, and industry communities worldwide.
Over the three days, the conference witnessed 15 invited talks and over 30 technical sessions, panel discussion and workshops that discussed and presented cutting edge research from across the world. The panel discussions were led by faculty and professionals from esteemed institutions and organizations, including STIMS Institute, San Jose, USA, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, IMTMA Bengaluru, DRDL, NIT Warangal, Amrita Hospital Kochi, among others.
One of the key takeaways from the discussions was the consensus that collaborative research between academia and industry should emphasize both Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) and Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) to ensure impactful outcomes.
In addition to the eight keynote sessions and an exceptionally enlightening talk by the research team led by Dr. S. Unnikrishnan Nair, VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, on the challenges of space manufacturing with emphasis on India’s prestigious Gaganyaan space mission, the final day of the conference also witnessed 100 poster presentations and 300 oral presentations in multiple parallel sessions by young researchers, showcasing innovative ideas and cutting-edge advancements in the field of precision engineering. COPEN13 witnessed active participation from approximately 600 delegates over the past three days. A post conference workshop is also scheduled for the 16th of December.
