Calicut Chamber of Commerce and NIT Calicut to Jointly Host Maritime Conclave
The Calicut Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), is set to organize a Maritime Conclave in Kozhikode. This high-impact event is being planned with the active support of the Directorate General of Shipping, Central Excise & Customs, and the Kerala Maritime Board.
The proposed conclave aims to promote maritime trade, coastal resilience, and regional logistics infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on exploring the development potential of Beypore Port, a key strategic node in Kerala’s coastal economy.
During a recent high-level meeting, Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, affirmed the institute’s academic support for the initiative. He was joined by Prof. Santhosh Thambi, Chairperson of the Centre of Excellence for Blue Economy and Coastal Resilience at NITC, who underscored the significance of industry-academia collaboration in driving sustainable growth in the maritime sector.
The conclave is envisioned as a dynamic platform bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers to foster dialogue and innovation in Kerala’s maritime landscape. A joint coordination committee will soon be constituted to take the proposal forward and finalize the program framework.
