Awareness Programme on POSH Act, 2013 at NIT Calicut

The Centre for Women Welfare and Social Empowerment (CWSE) jointly with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) organized a three-day Awareness Programme  on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act). The programme aimed to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment by promoting awareness and legal literacy among faculty, staff, and students.

The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Sunitha M.S., Dean (Faculty and Staff Welfare) in the presence of Dr. S. Bhuvaneshwari, Chairperson, CWSE, and Dr. Shiny Joseph, Presiding Officer, ICC.

The distinguished resource person, Adv. Dibyanshu Pandey, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, delivered an insightful and impactful session on the provisions, implementation, and significance of the POSH Act. His interaction with faculty members, staff, research scholars, and first-year B.Tech students was highly engaging and informative.

More than 1,600 faculty members, staff, and students were empowered with legal awareness under the POSH Act, 2013. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment and pledged to actively support institutional initiatives aimed at building a safe, inclusive, and empowering campus for all.

To enhance engagement and outreach, a quiz competition was conducted at the end of each session. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the winners.
