A write-up on the ‘Online Workshop on Science Communication’ on 22 August 2026
We are pleased to share that the Department of Bioscience and Engineering (BSED), National Institute of Technology Calicut, in collaboration with the Office of Communications, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, hosted an engaging Online Workshop on Science Communication on 22 August 2026.
The workshop brought together an outstanding panel of speakers who guided participants through the different dimensions of science communication, from identifying and writing science news to long-form feature writing, ethical considerations, pitching to media outlets, conducting interviews, and creating compelling visual stories.
We were delighted to learn from Ranjini Raghunath on Finding & Writing Science News, Sandeep Menon on Long-form Feature Writing & Ethics, Rohini Subrahmanyam on Pitching Outlets & Conducting Interviews, and Ashmita Gupta on Infographics, Comics & Visual Storytelling.
Our sincere thanks to all the speakers from IISc for sharing their valuable expertise and insights, and to Dr Suresh P.S., Professor and HOD, BSED, for organizing this workshop. We also extend our appreciation to all the enthusiastic participants whose active engagement made the session truly enriching.
This workshop was a meaningful step towards nurturing and fostering stronger science communication skills within the scientific community.
